We just found out that our neighborhood grocery store offers something rather unique: Free grocery delivery for new moms, within the first 3 months after having their baby.

I don’t know any other grocer that does this. It may not be the most incredible thing in the observable universe, but it says something about their hearts. It shows that they care. It shows that they’re not just crunching numbers, trying to boost their profit margins, and treating their customers like cogs in their operational system.

So what about you? What can you do to show (not just tell) your customers that you truly care?

(Oh, and we also just found out that they offer free coffee – at any time of day, to any person who walks through their doors. Again, not the most incredible thing in the world, but it says something. Something that – even though they charge more than the bigger grocery chains – makes people want to keep coming back.)
